If you don’t already have dentures and need a little more information – full dentures (also known as complete dentures) are a removable appliance that replaces ALL teeth on one, or both arches of your mouth. We call this being ‘edentulous’.
Of course, there are certain limitations and ‘rules’ to follow in the fabrication of complete dentures to try and find the happy balance between complete tooth loss (edentulism) and creating a set of false teeth that are aesthetic, functional and stable, all of which will be discussed throughout treatment.
Conventional complete dentures work best on well healed gums, so if you have natural teeth already and think they may need to be removed, then you may require an ‘Immediate Denture’.
Immediate dentures are complete dentures or partial dentures inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth. Immediate dentures may be the best solution when complete extraction of your remaining teeth is unavoidable. An immediate denture will assist in avoiding any embarrassment you may experience when living without teeth. We begin the preparation for this procedure before your teeth are extracted.
This means you will have your new teeth straight away instead of waiting for your gums to heal. As your mouth heals, the gums under the denture change and shrink. Within a short period of time, (usually 2-3 months) the denture will likely become loose. A denture reline (adding extra material) may help to correct this, but in time a replacement denture may also be necessary.
If you still have natural teeth but have a few spaces you’d like to fix or fill, a removable Partial Denture is a great way to fill spaces where your teeth once were, utilising your remaining teeth to support and retain the denture in when in use.
A well-designed, well-fitting partial denture should stabilise and improve function, aesthetics, and phonetics, plus support the lips and face, whilst reducing the risk of your natural teeth from drifting and over-erupting too.
In most cases, we can design partial dentures to predict some amount of future tooth loss if required. This means if you happen to lose a natural tooth along the way you won’t have to replace your entire denture! There are a few choices when it comes to partial dentures. Cobalt Chrome, Acrylic and Flexible.
Scott will discuss with you the most suitable option for your individual circumstance and create something that will look natural and blend in with your existing teeth.

Standard conventional dentures may have some limitations whereby using only suction or clasps. Implant Retained Dentures offer greater stability and support. This alternative utilises implant fixtures or screws being placed into the jawbone by a dentist.
Once healed, the corresponding implant components can be included into your dentures, giving them greater support and security when in use, and still being able to be removed when required.
Implants can be placed in both the upper jaw and lower jaw and can be fabricated as fixed or removable appliances. Creative Dentures can produce new dentures, or in some cases use your well-fitting old dentures to incorporate your new implants.
If you already have implants placed, then come straight in to see us! Scott can assess your current situation and liaise with dentists and oral surgeons to provide you with further diagnoses and place implants. Once placed, we can restore and fabricate a removable prosthesis made for your specific situation with a beautiful, custom-made implant retained denture.
We can assist you with referral and coordination of your appointments with a dentist and guide you through the whole process.
At Creative Dentures, we also offer custom mouthguards. Our team will take an impression of your teeth and gums which will then be used to create a custom-fitted mouthguard designed to fit your mouth perfectly.
Custom mouthguards offer several benefits over store-bought options. They provide superior protection to the teeth, gums and jaw, and are more comfortable to wear, making it easier to speak and breathe during physical activities. They also reduce the risk of injury by absorbing the force of impact, thereby minimising the risk of damage to the teeth and surrounding tissue.
Whether you're an amateur athlete, a professional sportsperson or just someone who participates in high-impact activities, a custom mouthguard can help protect your teeth and gums from serious injury. Contact Creative Dentures today to schedule an appointment.
